Rana Boy Dead

Hip-life music group, Rana, has lost a member of its dance crew, Boakye Yiadom, popularly known as Naa Boogie. Naa Boogie, 19, died at his Donsoman-based home on January 26 after a short illness.

He was a student of the Takoradi Polytechnic, studying Business and majoring in Accounting, Mathematics and Economics. According to reports, he returned to Accra from Takoradi before his death. News-One could not confirm the exact sickness that killed him but he will be buried today in Kumasi.

His group members are yet to recover from the shock of his untimely death and Kobi Rana was all tears when News-One contacted him yesterday: “We’ve lost a great member. Not just we as a group but Ghana as a whole. He is not just talented and I don’t think we can have any one to replace Naa Boogie. He is the best and may his soul rest in perfect peace.”

Boakye hails from Offinso in the Ashanti Region and has been in the dance industry for a while. He has performed with Rana at a number of shows as well as appeared in their music videos. Recently, he was in the music video for Kobi Rana’s ‘2Bad’ movie. He also performed at the last 4syte Music Video Awards and several other shows.

In 2009, Naa Boogie won the Eastern Regional National Dance Championship organized by Media whizz Kid, organizers of Miss Ghana. He was also a member of 4 Bent, a dance group that competed in Ghana’s Malta Guinness Street Dance competition last year.

Even though he was doing well in the dance industry, he also wanted to broaden his scope of knowledge, hence enrolling at Takoradi Poly, but unfortunately, death did not allow Boakye Yiadom to achieve his dreams.
