Ramzy bounces back

Last year’s first runner-up in the Stars of the Future reality show, Prince Amui, known in showbiz as Ramzy bounced back on stage last Saturday at the final showdown of this year’s Stars of the Future reality show held at the National Theater, Accra.

Being his first performance after he was granted bail from remand last month, Ramzy exuded much energy in the song entitled “Freedom” and gave the audience a taste of his musical talent, which they had missed since his exit from the West African Idol reality show on MNET following his arrest.

He was arrested in February for his alleged involvement in a car-snatching incident at Tema. This indeed stifled his dreams of entering into international stardom.

In Saturday’s rendition he showed as much musical strength as possible, raising the programme above expectation. Eliciting good stagecraft, he used the stage very well, traversing both ends, keeping eye contact with fans, not forgetting his microphone proposition; the power in his voice showed his confidence.

Comprehensively, he set fans agog as they watched him in sheer admiration. Possibly, his gig was a surprise package from the organizers - Charterhouse - to their cherished fans.

The fun at the National Theater swelled with performances from Irene and Jane, also of Stars of the Future fame. Their gig was superb with a “Yankee touch”. It was what one could describe as an international performance.

Timi, winner of West African Idol also rendered something soothing. Few seconds after he mounted the stage from among the audience, he went back to the audience and got hold of lady fan to communicate the message in the song he performed.

This year’s Stars of the Future show was won by Justice, after three rounds of performances, with one category being where contestants were made to sing their own songs.

Their performances were remarkable as judges Nana King, Bibi Brew, Zapp Mallet and Abraham Ohene Djan did not have much problem in their judgments. Announcing the winners of the show, which was telecast on GTV, presenters Jessica and Chris made the audience more anxious.

Finally, when Justice was mentioned as the winner, the show was turned into a praise session by Justice and the other contestants including the evictees.

For his prize, Justice drove home a sleek VW Polo Sedan car from Universal Motors aside an international recording contract, a 12-inch Colour TV from LG, as well as product hampers from FC, Close-up and LG for all four finalists.

Frederica Sarfo snatched the 2nd position, attracting GH¢ 1,000, with Clare Asigri taking 2nd position and winning GH¢500. Betty Osei came 3rd, receiving GH¢200.
