Pool ‘party’ turned Pool ‘parting’ at Tic Tac’s show

William Osei, a 28-year-old administrator at a private hospital, drowned in a swimming pool at a hotel at Nkawkaw during the weekend.

Osei, who was said to be drunk, was swimming in the pool during an entertainment programme at Rojo Hotel when he drowned in the process.

The Nkawkaw Divisional Crime Officer, Police Superintendent Nana Kwaku Dua told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that on August 11, at about 1900 hours, “Tictac”, a musician, organized an entertainment programme at the hotel which was attended by a number of people including the deceased.

He said in the course of the programme, some of the people including Osei decided to swim in the pool.

According to the Crime Officer, Osei was later seen drowning and was rescued at a state of unconsciousness and rushed to the Holy Family hospital at Nkawkaw but was pronounced dead on arrival.

He said an autopsy report indicated he died through drowning.

Superintendent Dua said three people had so far lost their lives when trying to swim in that pool during the past four years.
