Ghanaian rapper Okyeame Kwame has shared his thoughts on governance, human behavior, and personal growth, stressing that mindfulness could help reduce corruption in society.
Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM on April 13, 2026, the musician stated that a lack of self-awareness is one of the key reasons people engage in negative behaviors, including corruption.
“Politicians will not be stealing our money if we practice mindfulness. People will not be envious or not clapping for others. Everyone will be happy for one another if we are all mindful of what we do,” he said.
According to him, true transformation begins from within, as he referenced the teachings of Jesus Christ to emphasize his point.
“They asked Jesus Christ where the kingdom of God is, and he said, 'If someone says it’s left, or right, or up, they’re lying. '” It’s within you,” he stated.

Okyeame Kwame explained that practicing mindfulness involves deep self-reflection and understanding one’s inner nature.
“Practicing mindfulness means to look inside, to understand your demons and angels. Make sure that you have the potential to be dangerous, but you’re continuously expressing your kindness. If it happens like that, you will be strong,” he shared.
He also touched on the concept of aging, challenging the popular notion that “age is just a number.”
“I don’t think age is just a number. As you age, you’re getting closer to death. Once a person turns 40, they have initiated the process of dying,” he said.
Okyeame Kwame added, “What you can do is to slow it down or make sure it’s bearable. But for sure, you’re aging, you’re dying, so age is not just a number.”
