Police probe death of househelp

THE police are investigating the circumstances which led to the murder of a 30-year-old house help by a watchman, Mohammed Hassan, at West Airport in Accra, on Sunday.

The name of the deceased was Alice Kai Anum, of Teshie.

According to a police source, both the deceased and the suspect lived and worked in the same house.

The source said at about 3p.m. on Sunday, a gardener in the house heard screams of someone asking for help and quickly rushed in to help.

Unfortunately, the door to the main house was locked, but the gardener managed to use another entrance into the house, the source said.

Just as the gardener entered the house, he saw the suspect, Hassan, climbing the wall to escape.

The gardner raised alarm and some neighbours chased the suspect and arrested him.

The source said when the gardener entered the house he saw the deceased lying in a pool of blood, with knife wounds all over her body.

A report was then made to the Airport Police and Hassan was handed over to them.

Meanwhile, the body has been deposited at the Police Hospital mortuary pending autopsy.
