Police arrest man for stealing pregnant sheep

Accra, Sept. 27, GNA - A 19-year-oldman, Iddris Abdallah has been arrested and placed in police custody for allegedly stealing four pregnant sheep at Mempasem a suburb of Accra.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP)Matthew Teye Tetteh, Legon District Police Commander, said the suspect who tethered the four sheep around an electric pole in the vicinity was arrested when a retired Chief Inspector of Police George MacCarthy and one Akoto laid ambushed for him.

He said after waiting for 30 minutes Abdallah emerged with a taxi at the scene to convey the stolen animals. Luck eluded Abdallah when Inspector MacCarthy and his colleague emerged from their hideout and confronted him. ASP Tetteh said initially, the suspect said he bought the animals from Maarjor behind Madina and was sending them to Madina and later alleged that the animals were meant for his brother who resides at Kanda.

The taxi driver whose name was not disclosed assisted in transporting the animals including the suspect to police station. ASP Tetteh said Abdallah would appear before Madina Magistrate Court after investigations are completed
