Photos: A look at Kwaw Kesse the eccentric one

Even as kwaw kesse spends time in the cooler for enjoying a spliff, a look at the musical journey of the ‘Abodam’ man is an interesting one. Kwaw particular gained attention for his eccentric stage performances as well as his video clips which were usually out of the ordinary. Emmanuel Botchwey aka Kwaw Kesse was born in Agona Swedru and started singing in school, where he sang and rapped every now and then to beats provided by his friends thumping on a table. He had his J.S.S education at Happy Home J.S.S and then progressed to Winneba Secondary School for his Secondary education. His major break came when he was featured on Obrafuor's Executioners Diary with his 'Oye Nonsense' track. He continued winning hearts by featuring again on Hammer's 'Sounds of Our Time' compilation. This time around, it was 'Ma Tewo Kwakwa' which made people to take notice of his potential. This track made such an impact on the album that it became the favourite of most music lovers. This prepared the way for his debut album, ‘Na Ya Tale’ which was a big hit. In 2007, Kwaw released the 'Abodam’ album. He scored big hits with songs, 'Odeim', ' Na Ya Tal remix' and 'Wose Mmaa Pe Wo'. The success of the album and his amazing performances throughout the year earned him 5 Ghana Music Awards in 2008, including Artist of the Year. Kwaw has since released countless hits with Mr. Lover Lover featuring Ball J being his latest offering.
