Participants for Model of the Universe finals arrive

Models from all over the world have began converging in Accra for the world finals of the Model Of The Universe 2003 contest scheduled for the National Theatre on Saturday November 8.

More than 20 models are already in the country and have began a tour of some of the tourist sites around the country.

Some of the countries whose models have already arrived in Ghana are: Estonia, Botswana, Russia, Germany, France, Poland, England and Scotland.

Others are, Italy, Slovakia, China, Ethiopia, United States of America and Nigeria. The event, which is being hosted by 1st Royale Company Limited in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Modernisation of the Capital City, is expected to attract models representing over 50 countries across the world.

The models left Accra for the Central Region last Wednesday, where they were scheduled to visit the Kakum National Park, the Cape Coast Castle and the West African Historical Museum and later a cultural performance at the Elmina Beach Resort. They were scheduled to leave Cape Coast yesterday for the Western Region to visit Nzulezu and have a tour of the Ankasa Game Reserve.

The ladies are expected to party the night away at the Celebrations Night Club tomorrow and depart for Ada on Sunday for a day on the Subhi's Island Home.

On Monday, the ladies will have the privilege of having lunch with President Kufuor at the Castle gardens and later go on a carnival from the Kwame Nkrumah Circle to the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum.

The ladies will continue to have lots of activities to entertain themselves between now and the final day when they will be paraded in Mercedes Benz cars to the National Theatre to a red-carpet welcome for the final showdown. < p> The event is not only going to be a show of beauty but also aimed at promoting unity and improving society.

Already some of the ladies have demonstrated this through some pledges and commitment to some ministries and institutions.

The event, which is being held for the first time in Africa, follows the successful hosting of the national finals in June, which led to the President of Miss Tourism World Organisation and his entourage coming to Ghana to launch the world finals.
