Leader and founder of the International Central Gospel Church, Pastor Mensa Otabil, has applauded gospel musician Joe Mettle for winning Artiste of the Year at the 2017 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs).

Joe Mettle, on Saturday 8 April, won the top prize which has eluded gospel artistes in the country since the awards began in 2000.

Dr Otabil prayed that Mr Mettle flourishes in whatever he does. “Congratulations! May the Lord continue to increase and expand your ministry. May you flourish on every side!” Dr Otabil tweeted on Monday.

The Owanwani singer, who also clinched Best Male Vocalist and Gospel Artiste of the Year on the night, beat E.L, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, MzVee, and Medikal to win the ultimate award.

The Artiste of the Year Award is given to the artiste(s) adjudged by the Academy, Board and the general public as having the highest audience appeal and popularity in a particular year.
