Orphanage Africa supports school project

Obuasi (Ash), June 28, GNA - Orphanage Africa, a charitable organisation in Accra, is assisting in the construction of a basic school estimated at 600 million cedis for the Adullam Orphanage at Obuasi.

The school, when completed, would offer courses from the kindergarten level up to the Junior Secondary School (JSS). Mr Richard Adabrah-Klu, project Manager of Orphanage Africa, announced this at the weekend when he presented a cheque for 10,000 Euros to Adullam Orphanage at Obuasi towards the school project. Mr Adabrah-Klu said Orphanage Africa had already assisted Adullam in the building of a library, a clinic and the establishment of a poultry and rabbit farm.

"In addition, we have supplied two tons of educational materials to equip the library", the project manager said.

Mr Adabrah-Klu said his organisation would assist local orphanages established in problem areas with well-tested and sustainable programmes that would make them self-sufficient.

Reverend Louise Timothy, Director of Adullam Orphanage, said there were 115 orphans and abandoned children sleeping on verandas and dining areas who needed to be properly housed.

She expressed appreciation to Orphanage Africa for its support. "We are extremely appreciative of this sponsorship".

Rev. Timothy said most of the children were very intelligent and that when given the necessary support they could attain higher academic heights.
