Oppong Memorial Secondary School wins Quiz Competition

Bekwai (Ash), Nov. 3, GNA- Oppong Memorial Secondary School at Kokofu in the Amansie East district emerged winners in a constitutional quiz game organised by the district office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) at Bekwai at the weekend.

The competition was to select a Senior Secondary School (SSS) to represent the district in a regional competition slated for November 13, 2003.

Bekwai SDA Secondary School took the second position, followed by Jacobu Secondary/Technical School, while Bekwai Wesley High School came fourth.

For their prizes, Oppong Memorial Secondary School received a trophy donated by Mr Osei Kuffour, a former staff of the NCCE. Addressing the schools after the competition, Mr Yaw Oppong-Fosu, the Amansie East District Director of the NCCE, said one of the cardinal aims of organizing the competition was to keep the civic education programme alive.

He expressed regret that due to financial constraints, the Commission could not organise the competition regularly as it would have preferred.

Mr Sarfo Kantanka, Deputy District Co-ordinating Director, called for the regular organisation of the competition to enable the students to be abreast with the constitution.
