Opinion: HURRY UP! Dear O.J. & Ohemaa Mercy, please return your VGMA plaques now

Gospel musician, OJ Gospel musician, OJ

Two leading gospel artists in the country, Minister O.J. and Ohemaa Mercy, have expressed their strong opinion on the George Quaye- VGMA bribery allegations and not only are they articulating their ill-informed sentiments, they are also threatening to take a very critical stance.

In separate interviews, the two have expressed their resolve to return the awards they’ve won over the years, awards won on merit and devoid of any related controversies.

Firstly, I applaud and respect the two for speaking out and making their intentions known. They are standing up for the gospel fraternity – Praise the Lord!

Stop Wasting Time, Please

Interestingly, Minister O.J and Ohemaa Mercy are two of the leading gospel artists with most awards at the VGMA plus a couple of others and their willingness to let go of their awards due to some ‘harmless’ comment is quite confounding.

According to zionfelix.com, Mr. Isaac Twum-Ampofo, head of Ohemaa Mercy’s management team has stated that, George Quaye’s inability to mention names of the gospel artistes who offered bribe for the awards paints all musicians in the gospel industry black in the eyes of the public.

He went on to say that, if George does not mention the names, they will return the plaques.

After a few days of this lame threat with no action, Minister O.J was also inspired and threw his own gauntlet.

The same website reported that O.J has also stated that, if George doesn’t mention the names, he will return his plaques.

Well, George Quaye has stated categorically, that he is not going to mention any names, which is one of the reasons he apologized profusely. So, Minister O.J and Ohemaa Mercy, kindly note that, since the names will never be mentioned, it behooves you to stick to your word and return the plaques – fast!

Permit to get into your zone and quote a verse; Matthew 5:37 – “Let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’”

Big Disappointment

It is indescribable how gutted I am in Minister O.J and Ohemaa Mercy for their posture on this matter; huge disenchantment!

These Ministers of the Gospel have been ‘disturbing’ us for years, in the name of projecting the word of God, the word that puts the subject of forgiveness under such spotlight, yet, they are unable to adhere to such teaching. Incredible!

Again, let me show them what the Bible says about Forgiveness – just in case, the spirit to decipher Bible teachings are lost on them.

Matthew 6:14-15 NIV – For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins

Colossians 3:13 NIV- Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

Matthew 18: 21-22 NIV- Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times? “Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.”

Oh but wait, there’s more!

There are 9 other strong Bible verses that talk extensively on the subject of forgiveness.

Gospel Artists Are No Saints, They Are Not Angels Either

You read and listen to the likes of Minister OJ and persons from Ohemaa Mercy’s camp and you wonder if they really get the crux of the comment passed by George, or they are being ill-informed or they are using this to propagate their own agenda.

So, they are telling us, that Gospel artists can not attempt to bribe their way through their endeavors? They are telling us, that Ghanaian gospel artists have not bent the rules or acceptable norms to get their music and brand to the high points?

So, they are telling us that Gospel artists are so pure and pristine that, they cannot attempt to offer bribe?

No wait, Gospel folks are so angelic and spirit-filled that, they cannot be caught entangled in any unwholesome act?

Very laughable, very ridiculous!

Disrespect to the Gospel fraternity?

According to Minister OJ, Charterhouse has disrespected gospel musicians for long but this is the time for all artists in the country to unite and fight them (Zionfelix).

Disrespect? When? How?

So, OJ’s actions are being triggered by some so-called disrespect shown to Gospel artists by Charterhouse?

Okay, so Charterhouse has disrespected Gospel artists all these years, and he and his fellow musicians kept mute? The organizers of the VGMA have disrespected the Gospel fraternity all these years, yet, you guys take their money to perform on their platforms and you walk up the podium to pick awards?

Hear the Minister;

“This is the time to unite and fight them.”

Well, I wish you guys the very best in your zeal to unite and fight Charterhouse and the VGMA.

Please Take Note of This One

Well, since you guys are in a state of delirium, acting all hysterical in the bid to make a case, please do not forget to also delete on your CVs, on your social media platforms, on your websites and on Wikipedia (very important), the number of nominations and number of VGMAs won and all.

At the time of writing this piece, you guys still have VGMA honours, all on your profiles and related stories. Kindly do the honorable thing!

God bless you!
