Okyeame Kwame explains why he now rides a motorbike

Celebrities the world over have their own material fascinations and it is obvious Okyeame Kwame is no exception.

Even as people close to the rapper insist that he is “someone who loves nothing but humanity,” several others appear to think otherwise.
Some have claimed that Okyeame has an array of sleek and durable cars, including a white ML 350 Benz, and so have concluded that he is a big fan of cars.

But are cars the only thing that fascinates on the Rap-Dacta? Well, no! It has emerged this week that the two-time Artiste of the Year also loves motorbikes.

In fact, the rapper, throughout this week, has been spotted by our cameraman riding a giant Kawasaki D-Tracker motorbike but apparelled in a manner that his identity is “concealed.”

In the wake of this development, disagreements have also emerged on social media where some Instagram users have doubted that a picture of a man standing by a motorbike was not Okyeame.

But Okyeame, on Wednesday, admitted to this writer that that picture posted on his Instagram page was indeed him.

“Oh, that was me,” Okyeame said.

Asked about the rationale behind the sudden shift onto motorbikes, the Rap-Dacta explained: “My ‘OK Stripped’ live-band concert is coming off this Friday, and I have been rehearsing with the band at Lapaz since last week.

“But I noticed that the traffic in Accra is not charitable in the mornings and evenings, so I decided to use the motorbike this week because it is faster,” he quipped.

From the motorbike experience, the Rap-Dacta cautioned drivers and other road users to exercise patients with motor riders “because it can be risky. There are drivers who will just come from nowhere and try to bully the motorbike rider.”

OK STRIPPED is a calendar event organised yearly by Okyeame Kwame at the popular +233 Jazz & Grill Bar in Accra.

Friday’s show, the fourth of in the edition, will feature not only Okyeame, but an array of award-winning performers currently making waves on the music scene.

They include Kwame Eugene, who won two awards (i.e. Highlife Artiste, and Best New Artiste) at the just-ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards; Kidi who won ‘Highlife Song of the Year’ and Adina, who emerged the Best Female Vocalist of Year.

The rest are songstress Sister Afia and the newest sensation on the block, Abochi.
“This is also the only event amongst all my shows where I engage my audience at the most interactive level, and allow them to ask me anything they want to know about me!”

“So, everyone should come to +233 this Friday (i.e. tomorrow) and grab your ticket for only GHc 100 and let’s have a great time,” he said.
