Soul and Jazz singer Ofie Kudjoe last Sunday took the 12 contestants of the ongoing MTN Hitmaker through some ‘dos and don’ts’ on stage, backstage and life in general.
As the only female judge on the show, she came by the house and for two hours took them through breath and voice control on stage, diet, stage works, vocal training and several others.
She urged them to take the advices she gave seriously if they really want to go far in the industry.
“This workshop is meant to help them learn how to work on their breathing, voice control, vocal control and their overall balance in life, eating properly, exercising, loosening up, and how to work their vocals everyday so they could get stronger.
These are things they will take with them forever if they want to continue in the industry. Their breathing is essential, exercises are also very essential because it helps you maintain strength on stage,” she said.
Rama, a contestant, said the workshop has really taught her a lot. “I now know to train my voice, what to eat, and create an image for myself. I know that as an artiste we have to select our foods but with this workshop I have been enlightened more as to which food choice will help improve my singing.”
K Bee added that the judge came to teach them the processes of becoming great artistes. “I actually have a problem with my throat but with what Ofie has taught me I will be very careful with my diet and I hope it will change.
“I was really happy she came because some of the foods I eat are not good for me as a musician but I never knew until she came to tell us. This advice will impact positively on my career in the years ahead."
Volta Regional representative, Cano Z was very grateful to Ofie. “I have learnt a lot and I am very grateful to her. I didn’t even know sometimes we have to control our voice when performing. I think she has really taught us a great deal.”
