On December 14th and 21st the maiden edition of the GHANA NGOs Awards will be launched in Cape Coast and Accra respectively.

The GHANA NGOs Awards is the initiative form ORPED Ghana and partners. The awards are a component of five activities lined up to celebrate and appreciate NGOs, Community Based Organizations (CBOs) and strategic partners.

The project involves five major activities namely: the Ghana NGO Games and Fair; Ghana NGO Partnership/Fraternity Night (first Central region NGOs Partnership Night, first Ghana NGOs Partnerships/Fraternity Night), the annual Ghana NGO commemorative magazine, Ghana NGO awards and the Ghana NGO TV.

The Awards would be launched at specially organized NGO Fraternity and Partnership Nights at the SAMRIT Hotel in Cape Coast on December 14, 2013 with the national launch coming off at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel in Accra on Saturday, December 21, 2013 with both events starting at 7pm.

These two events are driven by the theme “Celebrating the work of NGOs in Ghana and Building Partnerships for Development”

The main objective of the two events is to promote partnerships among NGOs, strategic partners of NGOs, and Communities in which these NGOs work. This should culminate in sharing best practices, and fostering synergies for development. It will also be an occasion for NGOs to showcase their best projects for 2013.

The hosts NGO for the regional event for 2013 are the ANOPA Project and Play Soccer Ghana. The hosts for the national event are ORPED and Partners.

It is anticipated that about 200 personalities representing 50 NGOs, CBOs, community leaders, academicians, government agencies, ministries, embassies and NGO service providers will attend.

NATURE OF THE EVENT

The event will be a combination of theatre style conferencing, cocktail and business to business caucuses. There will be speeches, video presentations, music, drama sketches and the launch of the first GHANA NGO Awards.

Development oriented musical artistes will lighten up the event to offer hard working NGO staff to put on their dancing shoes.
