OPINION: The instrumentalist is far better abroad

The more our showbiz industry becomes lucrative, the more players in the industry will become a better people.

Over the years, one sector of the industry that has not seen enough regard in terms of remuneration has been the area of musical instrument players aka instrumentalists.

These people though very important in the showbiz industry have always been relegated to the background.

Despite the fact that they have been ignored on their land, information gathered from the diaspora also tells us that they are in high demand elsewhere.

For instance, in the Ghanaian communities abroad, there is a constant demand of instrumentalists for church activities, social gatherings like funerals and parties including musicians who need these instrumentalists to play their events for them.

Obviously, the salary there is far better than the salary here but there lies one danger of one losing his or her skills on the instrument because of the inability for the instrumentalists to rehearse continuously.

The life abroad is such that an individual cannot survive on one job so the instrumentalists is always under pressure from that extra job making him or her lose attention on the instruments business and the dexterity needed to shine.

It is in the wake of this that is why Flex newspaper is suggesting to all instrumentalists in this country to sharpen their skills for better jobs abroad.
