Ghanaian comedian Lekzy DeComic has asserted that too many conversations in the entertainment industry are being driven by the wrong voices.
He said, often, individuals with limited understanding of these issues are given the platform to speak.
In an interview on 3Music TV, he explained that while conversations about the creative sector are important, they lose value when resource persons without the right background dominate the discussions.

According to him, every industry has specialists who can provide accurate insight, and the entertainment space should be no different.
Lekzy DeComic noted that in areas such as health or agriculture, experts are usually consulted to give the public the right information, and he believes the same standard should apply when it comes to the arts.
He further mentioned that comedy, for instance, requires people who understand the craft to be part of the conversation, not individuals who may be popular but lack any real knowledge about the field.

“That is my challenge with the entertainment industry where, I feel not every topic should have the same pundits discussing it. If we are discussing COVID, we have to bring doctors to educate the public; you don’t give that to, let’s say, a Kwesi Pratt… Issues about health should have health people discuss them; issues about agriculture should have agric people discuss them. In the same way with comedy, people who have a fair idea about comedy should discuss comedy.
“There are some people who don’t practically do comedy but have a fair idea of how it’s done and how it’s supposed to be. But some people have zero knowledge about it, yet they are the loudest,” he said.
