Not even marriage or children can stop me - Mzvee

Marriage and children are largely considered as a sacred institution which everyone might want to probably leave everything for but the BET Best International Viewer’s Choice nominee MzVee, says not even that can stop her from pursuing her music career.

“I would want to marry and settle down some day but I will not allow that or children stop me from achieving my dreams. I have the passion for music and that is what I want to do so yes its music all the way, music is my life.

“ That is not to say that I will not have time for my family, of course I will but I will not give up singing or music simply because I have settled down or I am a mother,” she told livefmghana.com .

The "Gimme Dat" hit maker mentioned the likes of American singer Beyonce and Ghanaian lelelege singer Mzbel as people she looks up to in relation to matters of having children and not giving up on music.

“ Lets us take a look at Mzbel and Beyonce, they have children but they are still in the music business, they make time for their families as well us making time for the studio and recording songs. Mzbel took time off the screens to have a baby and she is back.”

“For me I think it all boils down to the kind of partner you have, if I have someone who will love me and understand my job, I am sure, it would not be much of a problem at all when issues like these come up,” she added.

Commenting on her BET nomination she said; “I was excited and surprised but I think it only calls for hard work. Even though I did not win, it means that if I should work hard, I will one day also bag a BET award and I want to thank my fans and team for throwing their weight behind me and believing in me.”

Born Vera Hamenoo – Kpeda, the Keta-born musician is a student at Ghana Telecom University. She was the lead singer in the defunct all-girl group, D3 and she won the Unsung Artiste of the Year at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

She is popular for songs like Borkor Borkor, Harmatan, Natural Girl, Revolution, Dancehall Queen, Re-Vee-Lation, Gimme Dat and My Everything.

She will release the much talked about collaboration single between her and songstress Efya on Monday.
