Northern Region ready to host NAFAC 2010

Tamale, Nov. 18, GNA - Preparations are far advanced in the Northern Region for the hosting of the National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFAC) 2010 which comes off from November 20 to 27. The festival, which is being organised by the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Culture, is an annual event and would attract many ethnic and cultural groups to showcase the rich cultural and traditional heritage of the nation particularly the Northern Region.

Mr James Adabugah, the Northern Regional Director of Center for National Culture (CNC), told the GNA that the festival would be celebrated under the theme; "NAFAC-promoting unity, technology and wealth creation for a better Ghana; the role of the youth in nation building". Mr Adabugah said the event would attract people from all walks of life and President John Atta Mills would be the guest of honour. He said although financing was a problem, everything would be done to ensure the event is a success and expressed unhappiness about the poor sponsorship from corporate institutions and appealed to them to support the nation's culture.

Mr Adabugah appealed to the youth to take the opportunity to enrich themselves with the rich culture and traditions of the country through the NAFAC, adding that this would also promote unity, peace and a common sense of one nation with a common destiny. He said the occasion would also give opportunity to business entities to expand their businesses through networking.
