The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Consumer Protection Agency, Kofi Kapito has shamed Ghanaian musicians who boast with their meagre earnings.

He confidently stated that Ghanaian musicians who talk with excessive pride and self-satisfaction about their achievements, possessions, music abilities yet cannot boast of two hundred thousand US dollars [$200,000] bank account.

Kapito told Kojo Preko Dankwa, host of Starr FM’s ‘Morning Zoo’, that Ghanaian musicians lack knowledge on how the music distribution chain works so are unable to cash in on their talents.

He, however, applauded Ghanaian artistes for their good music records.

“Here in Ghana, mediocrity sells. Because I asked people how much money do these Ghanaian artistes have yet they go around Accra, boasting that they’re rich when they are given some small money and a used car.

I don’t think these Ghanaian musicians can even boast of a bank account of $200,000.

Music is not all about singing but it entails a lot. In Ghana, our musicians are good when it comes to recording good music but what comes after you’re done with the records is what matters and they lack that.” Kapito stated on Starr Morning Zoo

Kofi Kapito has been a staunch advocate of consumer rights.
