Ghanaian musician Nino has sung what is described as the most difficult music genre, opera.
He is set to release a song titled ‘Nessun Dorma’, an Italian love song which literally means ‘none shall sleep.’
Opera is an art form in which singers and musicians perform a dramatic work combining text (called a libretto) and musical score, usually in a theatrical setting.
Opera incorporates many of the elements of spoken theatre, such as acting, scenery, and costumes and sometimes, dance.
With his new song, Nino has now joined great legends like the late Luciano Pavarotti and Andrea Brocelli, who were known for singing opera.
Most musicians are not able to perform opera music because it demands the richest vocal texture and best of breathe control to be able to sing or perform it well.
Renowned opera singers are often Castratos (castrated male singers) because they need to maintain their beautiful vocal texture from the time of conception into adulthood.
There are queries about how Nino was able to sing this kind of music style effortlessly and also in Italian.
“I am not castrated yet (laughs). Maybe after my fourth child then I will,” he jovially said yesterday.
Ghana is lucky to have such a young musician like Nino to put such a unique style of music on the world music map.
Nino is currently getting ready for a global event with opera’s greatest hit ‘Nessun Dorma’ and other awesome tunes.
