Nima shooting: I am very disappointed - Tic Tac

Following reports of a shooting incident in Nima which left a young man badly wounded and hospitalized, Veteran hiplife musician Nana Kwaku Okyere Duah populary known as Tic Tac has expressed his disappointment at the happening advocating for the need to address the issue of gun violence in the country.

“I am soo disappointed after hearing about this shooting incident which occurred in Nima. We should stand against gun violence and stop this from creeping into our music industry,” he said.

On Monday 25th December, there we reports of some violence in Nima, a suburb of Accra where persons believed to be members of Shatta Wale’s Shatta Movement attacked some youth in the community.

A member of the gang, Hamidu also known as ‘Guyman’ is currently in custody and assisting in investigations.

The Shatta Movement gang leader Kumoji well known as Shatta Kumoji is said to be on the run and has been allegedly spotted in Togo.

Veteran musician responding to the unfortunate incident cited Shatta Wale’s viral video where he was seen firing warning shoots amid his beef against Nigerian musician Wizkid, suggesting it served as a catalyst for Wednesdays’ shooting.

“When I first saw one Ghanaian musician shooting in public and mentioning names of other musicians, I called the police to follow up on the situation because I started smelling danger for our music industry. Until today nothing happened. After reading this story, I am not surprised at all because I saw this coming. Now someone is shot because of our negligence?” he added.

He attributed the attitude of waiting until something happens before taking action to most Ghanaians, and advised a change of attitude before the worst happens.

“In Ghana we react after situations happens, while we could have avoided it. We are going to see the worst if we do not come together and stop this rot immediately.

He said, “I call this music gang and it is very dangerous if you want to know more about it find out from the UK, Jamaica and the USA. When it starts, it’s very difficult to control and all the shows will stop and people will now see how stupid they have.”
