Gospel sensation Brother Sammy, born Samuel Opoku, has stated that old gospel singers are unable to provide for themselves financially because they were not smart and vigilant enough when they were in the limelight.
According to Brother Sammy, being a gospel musician doesn’t mean one should live and die a poor person all in the name of doing God’s work.
Speaking in an interview with DJ Roar, on ShowbiZ Council on Kessben FM, Saturday, he made it clear that current gospel musicians are more alert and smarter than the old musicians when it comes to doing business with their talents.
He said that “old gospel musicians failed to make good use of their musical talent to attract the necessary monetary gains as compared to the current crop of musicians”.
“Even the Bible is sold to Christians, that’s the reason they can’t run gospel music as NGO,” he added.
Brother Sammy asserted that the public should stop advising gospel singers to perform for free because they are doing the work of God.
The gospel singer months ago, went viral following claims of having a cure for a number of chronic diseases including HIV/AIDS.
The artiste revealed his “divine healing water” (water mixed with a substance suspected to be DDT) was sent to him by God.
The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) with help from the Ashanti Regional Police arrested him for selling the unauthorized healing water.
