New Ho private FM to test run in March

Ho, Jan. 30, GNA - A new privately owned Frequency Modulation Station based in the Volta regional capital, Ho, will start test transmission next March, following approval by the National Communication Authority (NCA).

The estimated cost of the station, known as "Mountain FM", is 1.5 billion cedis and is jointly owned by Mr Evans Ayivor, who is the Director of Operations and Captain Von Backustein (rtd), Executive Director.

Speaking to journalists at a press conference on Thursday, Mr Ayivor said the station would not be a "mouth piece" of any political party and dispelled rumours that government was funding it.

He said the station, which would cover the whole of the Volta Region and beyond would be manned by professional journalists. Capt Backustein said the aim of the station would be to educate people to be in the mainstream of both local and foreign events.
