New Ghana Actors Guild executives should resolve ARSOG problems – Kwaku Manu

Ghanaian actor based in Kumasi, Kwaku Manu has entreated the current executive members of Ghana Actors Guild to put steps in place to retrieve all unpaid monies by Audiovisual Rights Society of Ghana (ARSOG) to some actors and actresses.

According to him, veteran actors and actresses who are of age and not active in the industry are the most vulnerable as the royalties which are collected on their behalf by ARSOG are not given to them.

In an interview on Kasapa Entertainment with sit-in host Akwasi Nsiah on Kasapa 102.5Fm, the actor expressed worry about the unfair treatment meted to actors and actresses by the executives of Audiovisual Rights Society of Ghana (ARSOG).

“There main issue I would appreciate if addressed by the guild is royalties from ARSOG. It’s only the producers who receive their royalties but some of us the actors and actresses haven’t received anything from ARSOG,” he noted.

Kwaku Manu urged the new executives of the Ghana Actors Guild to live up to expectation to make the guild more presentable than before.

ARSOG collects royalties on behalf of owners from public users of audiovisual works. In addition, it is also the recipient of levy on recordable material from the Government on behalf of owners of audiovisual works and distributes these to their owners.

The Ghana Actors Guild (GAG), on April 29, 2017 converged at the Centre for National Culture in Accra to elect new leaders to occupy some vacant positions in the guild’s leadership.

Mr. Samuel Fiscian, aka Fish was elected president of the Ghana Actors Guild, Van Vicker won the Vice President position and Kalsoume Sinare was elected the welfare officer for the Guild.
