Many songs are released each election year for various political parties to help their campaigns.

Whether they make the parties win the election or not, that is another issue you would have to discuss at home.

Daddy Lumba, Kwabena Kwabena, A-Plus, Isaiah Kwadwo Ampong, Diana Asamoah and other musicianshave released songs for the leading opposition party, NPP. For the ruling NDC party, Mzbel, Lucky Mensah, Joel Ackah, Bukom Banku and many other musicians have composed songs to help their campaign.

Renowned music producer and sound engineer Appietus has named Daddy Lumba’s “Nana Ye Winner” for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the 2012 general election as the biggest political campaign song ever released in the country.

Mr. Appiah Dankwah in an interview with MzGee on Hitz FM said he recorded the song because of the cash that came with it not because of any political affiliation. He added that he is a music producer who is ready to work with any artiste without taking into consideration the party you are recording the song for so he sees nothing wrong with recording political songs for musicians who will pay him for his services.

Appietus who recorded Daddy Lumba’s NPP campaign song produced A-Plus’ ‘Aben Be Bon’ song released weeks ago. He is currently working on A-plus’ second song ‘Aye Late’ which talks against Mahama’s governance.

The multiple award-winning producer also told MzGee that he is not worried if people tag him as a member of NPP because of the songs he has recorded for the musicians who have endorsed the party. To him, he is a citizen of the country so the ballot paper will know the party he belongs.
