Nana Perbi goes ‘over the rainbow’ during Asa

It was an extraordinary experience with a litany of goodwill comments buzzing up and down the aisles of Action Chapel International auditorium following Nana Perbi’s bar-raising performance at this year’s Gospel Music and Dance show (Asa) last Saturday, September 28.

From the first notes of “Hosanna”, Nana Perbi had the audience in his hands. Aided by his able instrumentalists-a tight all-men band, a trio of rich background singers plus his fluid and flexible dancing moves Nana Perbi took the stage at the Prayer Cathedral and made it his own.

Effortlessly shifting gears to a more serious tone, Nana Perbi who is now a Pastor, drew the audience in closer with piercing performances of his own renditions of known praise and worship tunes with sparks of South African flavours.

After sailing over the main floor to a rectangular catwalk situated in the middle of the venue, he launched into what he called his “favorite part of the show”, getting closer to his fans. “I can read all the signs; feel all the energy.” That segued into a spirited audience sing-along during his entire presentation.

Pastor Perbi delivered a power-packed half an hour act, treating fans to an unforgettable colourful imagery and on-point dancing that enhanced rather than overshadowed the music.

Meanwhile, Nana Adjei Perbi is working to release his first commercial album, “Arrive Africa” and will hit retailers after mastering the album in SA. He has since left for South Africa to participate in a gospel music show.
