NPP has failed GHAMRO - Prince Tsegah

Prince Tsegah Prince Tsegah

Public Relations officer of Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) has added his voice to the tall list of players in the creative arts industry lamenting the neglect of the sector by successive governments, as well as their failed promises.

Speaking on a phone interview with Happy FM’s Mercy Bee, on why GHAMRO has not been able to pay musicians their due, Prince Tsegah said, “NPP has failed us; in their 2016 manifesto, they promised to help us to collect our royalties from various organisations. What government is giving us is very low, because if government gives us five hundred thousand and we GHAMRO are able to generate nine hundred thousand, what is the use. It’s like you don’t feel any state intervention. So these are some of the issues that handicaps us as musicians.”

He added that “Radio stations too are not paying the royalties; if I’m to tell you the amount that Radio stations too owe us you will be shocked. I mean if all radio stations are to pay us, lots of musicians would have been smiling by now for receiving about ten thousand Ghana cedis each as royalties” he added.
