Tic Tac, an accomplished hiplife artiste, has been able to convince music critics to appreciate that he is one of Africa's best, and leading entertainers on the continent if not worldwide.
Gifted and talented, not only in the hip-hop music field, but also in dancing, Tic Tac has exhibited his talent throughout his musical career. His creative skills, stagecraft and style of performance is well acknowledged.
Tic Tac who needs no introduction at all, has created a very good image for himself in Ghana, USA, London, Holland, Germany and Belgium among other parts of Europe, through his good stagecraft, good presentations and lyrics.
In 1999, he released his first album, Philomena, which became an instant hit on the Ghanaian music market. Tic Tac who owns a record label TN Records, has four albums to his credit.
His previous album 'Mesem', which contained hit tracks like 'Menka Bio' featuring Frank Mensah Pozo, and 'Santrofi Anoma', has increased his popularity on the music scene. Tic Tac, as we all appreciate, has achieved so much within a short period, due to his determination and hard work.
He told P&P, "I always want Tic Tac to be around. I want foreigners who visit Ghana to identify Tic Tac straightaway. Therefore, I always try to advertise my music widely; the video clips are a way of attracting people. For instance, I never dreamt of using a helicopter in real life, but in the video, Goodies , my producer, made it possible, for which I am extremely grateful".
Tic Tac's latest album, 'Wope', with the hit track 'Fe Fe Na Efe', currently receiving massive airplay on all the local FM stations throughout the country, has caught up with music lovers, including foreigners. 'Wope', exhibits a hidden talent in him. In fact, all the songs on the album have equipped with good drumbeats, rhythms, as well as beautiful, well-tuned chorus, and Tic Tac's touch with good rhythm is portrayed in his presentation in all the songs on the album.
The album features international artistes like Tony Tetuilla from Nigeria, and Freddy Meiway of La Cote d'Ivoire. He has really set the music industry ablaze with this album since it has an Anglophone as well as Francophone artistes on.
The album opens with a track, tilted 'Kwani Kwani' backed by NBA, Akua Gyamfua, and Angela Brifo. It is followed by the sensational; hit-track, 'Wope featuring the famous Freddy Meiway of La Cote d' Ivoire'.
'Fefe Ne Efe' featuring one of the top Nigerian stars, named Tony Tetuilla, comes third on the album. Anytime this song is played in Ghana and Nigeria, the fans put on their dancing shoes. 'Angela', featuring VIP, 'Push', featuring Tinny and 'Yaa Densoa', which features Abrewa Nana in the sequence. The 'Most Wanted' as some people style him, has other tracks like 'Menkasen', 'Curiosity', featuring Jeho, 'Mepewo', and 'Mpu Ni Mpu' on the album. Rhyming in English and Twi (a local Ghanaian dialect), Tic Tac is here to set the pace for other musicians to follow, since he is the only Ghanaian artiste who has gone international. In chat with Tic Tac, he declared, "not much, I try to be myself wherever I am. I think I can safely state that I don't feel different. I've always felt I was an artiste, and now that I'm growing and learning, it feels more like refining my personality than altering who I am, inside".
He noted that everyone has the right to his or her opinion, both positive and negative. "Constructive criticisms I can live with, but I was taught when I was young to keep negative opinions to myself, since they won't help the person involved on this road to self-improvement", he lamented.
