My ‘Big Boys’ helped me win 2016 VGMA Hiplife song of the year – Atom

High life musician Atom of Yewo Krom fame has disclosed that he single handedly spent Ghc3, 000 on air time in order for his hit single to win this year’s Hip life song of the year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

“I was confident I would win that particular category because I was doing my part to make sure I win the bid. In-fact I told myself that out of the three categories that I was nominated for, at least I would win one.

“From my pocket, I spent three thousand Ghana cedis not to talk of what my ‘big boys’ spent,” he told Delay in an interview on the Delay Show.

“I have friends who are also loaded in their pocket and they helped me with the votes coupled with what fans pumped into it made it much bigger,” he added.

Atom got 69% of the total votes to win Hiplife Song of Year.

Atom last Monday got his popular hit Yewo Krom song played at the Developer Conference of tech giant Apple.

The song was played to climax the demo of the all new Apple Music App.

It’s not clear why the song was chosen but it certainly must be a big deal for him as an artiste.
