Music Video Directors are not respected in Ghana – Pascal Aka

Award winning video director, Pascal Aka has observed that music video directors in Ghana are not duly respected.

According to him, most artistes pay little amount for music videos yet demand that their works are shot with specific cameras with good quality. He believes video directors do exceptionally well as they shoot good videos with limited budgets.

“I think generally, music video directors in Ghana are not respected enough. I think we are doing a very great job because we are able to do a lot with a little. The artistes don’t pay at all,” he said on Pluzz FM’s AM Pluzz on Monday.

The director at Breakthrough Studios stated that about 85-90% of Ghanaian musicians do not have the right to demand their videos shot with a specific camera because they don’t pay much.

“Some artistes request that their videos are shot with a specific camera. What is the most expensive camera? The red camera. Two music video directors own that camera in Ghana and I tell you for a fact that they did not pay for that camera using music video money because music videos do not pay that much,” he said.
