Mrs Amissah-Arthur challenge Ghanaian Artists

Mrs Matilda Amissah-Arthur, wife of the Vice President, has challenged Ghanaian artists to do more in terms of organising exhibitions to showcase their works, so that the industry would grow and also make then more marketable

Mrs Amissah-Arthur was speaking at an art exhibition show hosted by a young Ghanaian artist by name Maku Azu ,at the World Bank office at Ridge in Accra.

The exhibition ,which attracted diplomats,foreigners ,Ghanaian artist across the country, is an idea the World to help those in the art and creativity industry in collaboration with UNESCO to help those in the industry to grow .

The idea of the exhibition, is to help Ghanaian talented artist to showcase their works and to also help in Jobs and Income, so as to contribute to the development and implementation and make Ghana attractive tourist destination in the creative industry.

Mrs Amissah-Arthur, recommended to Ghanaian businesses and government to purchase some of the art works done by Maku Azu since it was an excellent show piece.

Mrs Amissah Arthur, said with people like Maku and the talent that she posses must not be allowed to die ,since the art industry helps in the area of job creation, beauty and income.

Mrs Amissah-Arthur said beyond the commercial perspective,the art by Maku had a way of touching "our body, our soul and our minds"so applauded her for the good works that she was doing as as young lady and commended the World bank office Ghana for instituting the program

The Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Hon. Dzifa Gomashie, praised the organizers for the bold initiative and urged Maku to keep up with her good work and pledged the Ministry's support to promote and sustain Ghana's indigenous and artistic industry for development.

She charged the Ghanaian business community to take advantage of the opportunities in the art industry and not only produce for the local market but also for export.adding that the government of President John Mahama saw the wisdom of adding creative arts industry to a ministry, so that Ghanians would know how government attaches great importance to that sector.

Maku Azu the artist, on her part thanked every body who was able to make it there and urged Ghanaian to partronise most of the art works since it represents our culture and heritage
