BACKGROUND

The legal registration of MODUGA at the Registrar General’s department of Ghana took effect from May 31, 2016 to officially start its operations as the only recognized union when it comes to the issues of models and modeling agencies in Ghana.

The profession of Modeling in Ghana in recent times has received massive interest from all sectors especially among young people.

Unfortunately the boom in the industry has also come with lots of challenges and exploitation from certain individuals and organizations resulting in unprofessionalism in the business.

With its slogan as ‘the voice of modeling industry’, MODUGA’s main aim is to correct the many wrongs in the industry and act as a mouth piece for all model agencies and models in the country regardless of nationality. It will also seek to educate agencies and models about the business and how to make use of the various opportunities that may be presented to them as well act as the main point of contact with regards to all issues concerning the business of modeling in the country.

From a broader perspective, its vision is to see in the not too distant future, meaningful and mutually beneficial business relationship with corporate Ghana, modeling agencies and models in working together to promote each other’s businesses and services.

The union currently has its head office in Accra but has in the last few months been able to mobilize other agencies and models in other regions of Ghana to elect leaders to run its affairs.

Modeling all over the world through fashion and advertising brings in millions of revenue to various countries especially in Europe and the Americas and it is hoped that MODUGA through its works can do the same for Ghana to foster development.

Signed
