Miss Universe Ghana likely to emerge among top 20

Accra, Aug. 21, GNA - Ms Jennifer Victoria Koranteng, Ghana's representative to this year's Miss Universe show, has emerged as a front runner.

Some of the analysts of the show placed her in the 20 top ranking for the finals on Sunday August 23. After a few preliminary tasks, including the swimsuit segment at the on-going Miss Universe beauty pageant in Bahamas, Ms Koranteng displayed exceptional skills added to her beauty and caught the attention of the judges.

A statement issued by Mr William Bedzrah, Communications Manager of Insignia Group, organisers of Miss Universe, Ghana and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Friday said her performance received wild endorsement from the judges making people to retort: "WOW! WOW! WOW!" "What a presentation in the swimsuit round!" "This girl took my breath away during her swimsuit presentation!" and "She has a Great face!" Ms Koranteng, a 22-year old Theatre Arts and Psychology graduate of the University of Ghana, beat four other contestants in June to win Miss Universe Ghana 2009 title after excelling in four gruelling task performances.

The statement said Ms Koranteng, who displayed exceptional smartness, intelligence and confidence, said she would rely on those qualities to win the world title for Ghana. The grand finale of the 2009 Miss Universe beauty pageant competition is scheduled for the Imperial Ballroom at Atlantis, Paradise Island, Bahamas. 21 Aug. 09
