Miss Tourism 2011 gets underway

Contestants of Miss Tourism 2011 will undergo grooming over the next two weeks from September 1 at the Crown Apartmento.

The contestants will be groomed in various areas from catwalking, fashion through basic etiquette to handling themselves as prospective winners of the pageant.

They will also be educated on what tourism means to the country.

Nii Allotey Brew Hammond, organiser of the Miss Tourism pageant says the grooming will be facilitated by a number of personalities including officials of the Ministry of Tourism.

Brew Hammond in an interview with Hitz FM indicated that during the two weeks in camp in addition to grooming the contestants they would also be taken on visits to tourist attractions and also visit their sponsors.

All these would be covered in the form of a reality TV show. It will however not be shown live on TV but will be shown after 24 hours on Home Base TV.

The Miss Tourism pageant takes place on September 17 at the National Theatre. The winner of the pageant becomes the Tourism Ambassador for Ghana and will perform some charity work locally in addition to showcasing the nation’s tourism potential internationally.

After the competition, contestants will get the opportunity to have a photo shoot on the 18th of September with the winner.
