Ahead of World Tourism Day, the Minister of Tourism, Mrs Zita Okaikoi has said she is excited at the organization of this year’s Miss Ghana beauty pageant and expressed her ministry’s support for the staging of the event.
According to Mrs. Okaikoi, this year’s pageant will not only enrich Ghana’s growing image and goodwill, but will make the work of her ministry in promoting and highlighting all aspects of Ghanaian culture, tourism, beauty and enterprise, a lot more easier.
Whiles lauding the enormous benefits Ghana continues to derive from the organization of beauty pageants, she applauded the very professional manner in which the Miss Ghana beauty pageant has been handled in the event’s history, tasking the organizers, Media Whizz Kids to work at making it even more prestigious than it is today.
“Though this year’s pageant has been adapted to conform to current global trends in the industry, we still need, as Africans, to develop a niche for ourselves while we aim to promote our identity world-wide” she said.
In what industry stakeholders refer to as Ghana’s most prestigious and well respected beauty pageant, the event continues to offer hope to the beauty and cosmetology industry as well as young and vibrant Ghanaian ladies, wanting to attain higher heights.
The 2010 edition has seen the separation of the National Dance Champion series from the main pageant. According to the organizers, they want to focus on each of the two concepts to tap into the benefits that lie in both.
The organizers are confident that this year’s event will be exciting given the highly competitive manner in which all twenty were selected and promised a far more thrilling night, very different from what was served patrons last year.
The event is sponsored by Auto Plaza Ltd, RLG Communications, Ghandour Cosmetics BO-16, Somotex, Goldfields Ghana and Forever Easy with support from Kabengo Jewellery, So Aesthetic Makeup, Stellar Group, Compu Ghana, ATL, Citizen Kofi, Eva Sparkling Wine and Danny’s Bridal Home and Decorations.
