Minister denies sending message to LG Miss Ghana pageant

Accra, July 19, GNA - The Minister of Tourism, Mr Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey has denied sending a message that was in a brochure of last week's LG Miss Ghana 2005 Pageant and demanded an unqualified apology from the organisers.

The Minister wishes to protest in the strongest possible terms this false attribution, which in simple language is forgery," a statement signed by Mr Ferdinand Ayim, Special Assistant to the Minister, said in Accra on Monday.

"The Minister did not send any message to the organisers of the said event and is shocked to find the use of the statement purported to have emanated from him complete with his photograph." The statement said messages from the Minister were not given for such events as a matter of course.

They are based on a number of factors, principally, the character of the event and its organisers, and the desire to associate with it, it said.
