Meet the Musical Twins- Asana And Fusena

After several years of grooming, through cultural dancing, doing back-up vocals for various artistes, Asana and Fusena have finally exploded unto the Ghanaian musical terrain with their debut album.

The 19 year old identical twins, launched their album at Frankies Hotel, Nima, last Saturday, July 5th, and will re-launch the album at the premises of T.V3 studios on a date yet to be confirmed by Producers of T.V 3 entertainment programme.

The album titled Nyonkama is a blend of cross-African rhythms ranging from indigenous highlife, Juju, soca, calypso and many other African rhythmic styles fused together. There are four different Ghanaian dialects on the album, comprising Ewe, Hausa, Mossi and Twi bringing out the diversity in Ghanaian culture.

The album is produced by S.O.S productions with Burning Rock and Pidgen Music as executive producers. Also the Ghana Twins Foundation of which Asana and Fusena are members have been instrumental towards the release of the album.

Among Artistes featured on this project are Malaika, Tripple M, Oyame from Nigeria, and Samaria , backed by the best brew of instrumentalists who worked tirelessly to produce all songs played live to give an authentic African sound.

Asana and Fusena, completed Kanda J.S.S and sold bananas and oranges to support their family. Nevertheless, nothing could deter them from their musical aspirations, thus they started out dancing in cultural troupes and later began to do stage dances for numerous artistes including Mac Tonto among many others.

Manager of the Duo, Burning Rock says" I noticed their unique talent and decided to groom them, that was how it all began".

Asana and Fusena have endeared themselves to the hearts of music lovers through their stunning performances that they exhibit with the diverse dialects which they sing, bringing together the many ethnic styles in Ghana.

The Duo treated audience to a thrilling performance at the National Theatre last week during the George Darko and Rex Omar concert which attracted massive patronage by music lovers who cheered on the Musical Twins.

As members of the Ghana Twins Foundation, Asana and Fusena will perform at the Pan-African Historical and Theatre Festival later this month in commemoration of the Twins day of the festival aimed at debunking negative notions about twins in Ghana and Africa as a whole.

Asana and Fusena use the power of their lyrics and African rhythms to offer advice, to comment on social problems and above all inspire listeners about life's ups and downs.

The twins are expected to travel to Cote'd'voire, Burkina Faso and France for performances and also to promote their maiden album.
