Ghanaian music group Keche has responded to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Consumer Protection Agency, Kofi Kapito after he stated that no Ghanaian musician could boost of having $200,000 in his/her account.

Even though he failed to tell the basis with which he used to come by that conclusion which caused an uproar on social media.

He said in an interview on Starr Fm’s ‘Morning zoo’ hosted by Kojo Preko Dankwa.

“Here in Ghana, mediocrity sells. because I asked people how much money do these Ghanaian artistes have yet they go around Accra, boasting that they’re rich when they are given some small money and a used car.

He continued that: “I don’t think these Ghanaian musicians can even boast of a bank account of $200,000. Music is not all about singing but it entails a lot. In Ghana, our musicians are good when it comes to recording good music but what comes after you’re done with the records is what matters and they lack that.”

But one half of the duo Joshua responding to the comment on Day Break Hitz on Accra based Hitz Fm said the claims by Kofi Kapito is wrong because the likes of Sarkodie, Medikal and others have more than that amount in their bank accounts.

“I can tell you that my brother Shatta Wale has more $200,000 in his account, my brother Sarkodie has more than $200,000 in his account and my brother Medikal has more than $200,000 in their account because I have seen it with my eyes”
