Mats Karlsson Organises Highlife Show

Taking a very close look at the music industry in Ghana today, it is obvious that Highlife music, Ghana?s original music has gradually been moved down the relegation table.

Apparently, the likes of hiplife music, with its foreign descent, seemed to have taken over from our own cultural music.

Thus, every now again, one cannot help listening to hip life songs, dominating the airwaves, as well as hearing about new hiplife entrants onto the music scene.

Consequently, as a measure to remind Ghanaians of their original music, the World Bank Country Director, Mr. Mats Karlsson, is organising a nostalgic highlife event in Ghana.

The show, slated for Saturday, 7 October, at his residence, located at Ridge, between the UK High Commission and the State House was expected to assemble high personalities.

Dubbed, ?highlife time?, it would grant participants the ample opportunity to hold discussions on issues pertinent to Ghanaian music, as well as bridging the knowledge gap that exists in Ghanaians, by sharing developmental information for Ghana, free of poverty.

There would be a lot of fun as the show would be featuring the evergreen Ebo Taylor, and ably supported by renowned highlife artistes as, Papa Yankson, Stan Plange, and C.K Mann.
Dr. Eddie Sogah and Prof John Collins, among other highlife big-named musicians, were also billed to perform.
