Master Dre, Africa's Finest Radio Presenter

Master Dre It takes a lot to define yourself as Africa's finest radio presenter, winning a DJ competition organized by Legon hall, being an ex Regional secretary for SRC in Senior Secondary School and President for Teen Beat. That is what are featured DJ/Presenter is saying right now.

Master Dre has been in the spotlight for some years now and is well known for his infectious songs he plays and radio hosting he does. A pioneer in the radio presenting community, he has became one of the finest young radio DJs at Top Radio and undoubtedly paved the way for other young DJs to follow.

Born into a Jehovah Witness family of 3 brothers as Andy Kwabena Adisi on December 15th, Master Dre attended Obuasi Goldfields Int. in Obuasi and later had to come to Accra in 1984 to start all over again in St John's Preparatory and J.S.S and later proceeded to St John's Grammar Secondary school. The surname 'Adisi' name may give a clue or ring a bell in your head that he is a junior brother to Bola Ray also known Nathaniel Kwabena Anokye Adisi.

He takes pleasure in reading, playing soccer, computer and video games, and listening to any music that is not noise when he is less busy. His role models are Bob Marley, Will Smith, Kwame Nkrumah and Dr. Dre.

He knew he had the talent and always fancied himself of becoming Africa's finest presenters, so immediately he entered University Of Ghana, Legon he worked with Radio Universe. Where he hosted 'Hiplife connection' (a 3 hours program) and 'At the DJ's Mercy' (an hour program).

"Hiplife connection was meant to connect people to the hiplife genre and the target was not limited. It had tit bits, info, news but no interviews", he said to Ghana Music.Com.

And on Saturdays, which was At the DJ's Mercy, he mixed hiplife and hip-hop songs. Aside his musical presenting he also did news reporting for the newsroom so you see from here that he was trained all round.

He really enjoyed working with Radio Universe because some memorable events took place when he was Radio Universe. Some of them were when he went to the Parliament house to interview Paa Kwesi Doom, Victor Smith, Ex Jerry J. Rawlings, President Kuffour and John Mahama.

In December 2003 Master Dre parted ways with Radio Universe but had to stay with them till May 2004 and left for the rejuvenated Top Radio in August.

He plays music in the night at Top radio on Monday - Friday after 10 - 12 pm, which are all hiplife tunes.  Because Top Radio are on a test transmission his new show is not yet out but promises his fans that his show will be presenting, playing the hottest songs and hanging out with artistes in the Ghanaian music industry.

"Am now at Top Radio but the offers are still coming and there is still room for more", when asked about his current radio station.

Master Dre is a busy fellow but he finds time on weekends and hangs out at Pier One, Yegola and Time Out.

Even though he likes hanging out a lot, he is quite in life and takes time to reflect on his life to write his music or record some tracks. And what a lot of you people don't know is that Master Dre sings a lot and has 50 tracks to his credit.

He hopes to settle in the United States to do anything connected with showbiz and to be like the big shots (Dr. Dre, Diddy and Kanye West).

He being in the music industry for sometime now and has some problems with the music industry. His first problem is the production from the studio which is that some engineers are not professionals and don't know anything about vocals and mixing.

Secondly is the executive production, which he points directly at the producers and managers who make so much noise about PAYOLA and that PAYOLA is good, he said

Management of the artistes, which he says that some of the managers and producers are not managers but are just in the managerial aspect for the money.

"And finally the distribution aspect of the albums of musicians. The musicians and producers just dump the albums on the distributors and don't go back to check on what is happening. They should adopt professional attitudes when it comes to the distribution of the albums. Other issues too have to be addressed but for now let me focus more on this", Master Dre lamented.

He says big thanks to his blood brother Bola Ray, Willy Ashley, Alhaji Sidiq of Universe, parents and brothers, Eddie Ray, Ruky, Kofi Marfo, Little Fii and to all the girls in and out of his life because they are a part of his life and would like to use to medium to say thanks, also to the 'boys boys' in the hood for their support. And also to the special girl in his life who it wasn't easy for him to date.

His little advice to upcoming DJs is that "they should identify their priorities and know what to do in future. Shape their lives well. Parents and elders should also play a part in their life".

You see him as someone who has everything he wants in life but his unfulfilled dream is not been able to do music and not being too religious.
