Masekela Thanks Rawlingses, Sponsors And Fans For Legends Night

This year’s African Legends’ Night was rapturous, engulfing and ecstatic. The Banquet Hall could not contain the thrill, delight and excitement that emanated from the packed and charged enthusiasts of Hugh Masekela, Lady May, Ben Brako, Bertha (Yaayaa) and Steve Bedi as they struggle to keep up with the melodious rhythm of Masekela’s trumpet, the sonorous sound from Bedi’s saxophone, Ben Brako’s legendary act, Yaayaa’s platonic delivery and Lady May’s appetizing blend of Oshiwambo and Pop.

The night was simply euphoric, sensational and memorable as the Rawlingses, who graced the occasion in their elegance and pageantry treated the crowd to a romantic sensual dance amidst thunderous ovation and affirmative claps.

‘The Rawlingses were a spectacle to behold. Their movements and gaits were adorable and very pleasing to see. I thank them for honouring my performance with a presidential dance, I am grateful to them. I thank all the sponsors who made the night a reality (Kasapreko, Samsung, Tata, African Regent Hotel, Stanbic Bank, Air Namibia and others). I specially thank all my loyal fans in Ghana and all those who came to rock the night; you are the best!’ Hugh Masekela enthusiastically submitted.

At few minutes to midnight on 22nd September, the Banquet hall was still packed with enthusiastic fans, who declared they wanted ‘more’ of Masekela. After about two hours of electrifying performance interjected with rib-cracking humour and poetry from Masekela, he asked; ‘Ghana, have you had enough?’ The crowd responded; ‘No, we want more!’

The Septuagenarian performer heightened the musical libido of the night with known and popular tunes such as ‘African woman’ originally performed by Fela Kuti, before he joined Ben Brako, Yaayaa and Steve Bedi to perform a final ‘Repete’ quartet.

According to Martin Amedume, an excited fan who recounted his experience; ‘Everything here tonight was lovely; the stage arrangement, the performances, the setting, coordination and the aura around the hall, were all perfect. I congratulate Global Media Alliance for this achievement; we want more of this.’

‘We are glad we partnered GMA to execute this brilliant concert. We are committed to excellence and we have just demonstrated that again,’ Mr. Martin Mensah, Managing Director of Kasapreko concluded.

Mr. Edward Boateng, Executive Chairman for Global Media Alliance reiterated; ‘The great night we had, was a fusion of synergy from the Global Media Alliance Group, the artistes, our sponsors, media partners and loyal lovers of good music in Ghana. We promise to build on this tremendous success and exceed expectations next year.’

The African Legends’ Night, is adjudged by many, as the most successful concert this year, considering attendance, coordination and artistes’ delivery.
