Mark Okraku Mantey is a liar – Big Akwes

Kumawood actor, Big Akwes has said in a recent interview on Radio 1 that, the president of the Creative Arts Council, Mark Okraku Mantey is a blatant liar and therefore no one should believe whatever he says.

The movie fraternity in Kumasi is petitioning Parliament to address the government’s decision to erect the Film Village at Kyebi in the Eastern Region.

According to the Kumawood team, Kumasi in the Ashanti Region is known as the hub for local movies and productions and is, therefore, best fit for the Film Village.

Reacting to the petition, Mark Okraku Mantey in a release he signed stated the decision was taken after a feasibility study was done to see where the film village could be sited to benefit the industry.

“One of the villages will be sited in Kumasi to serve the Northern Sector from Ashanti Region, one to be sited in the Eastern Region to serve the Southern Sector,” the statement read.

In an interview with Offei Wunuanie on Entertainment Today monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Big Akwes has rubbished Mark Okraku Mantey’s statement calling him a blatant liar.

“Let me make this clear to you, Okraku Mantey and the entire Creative art council are blatant liars, there was no study of whatever and no plans to build a film village in Kumasi. If it is true why now, trust me they are all liars, especially Okraku Mantey”, he lamented.



The government revealed its plans to construct a Film Village for the movie industry during the 2019 budget reading late last year. The Finance minister revealed 200 acres of land had been acquired for the project in Kyebi.

However, Ola Michaels said the husband of actress Mercy Asiedu is willing to give out 250 acres of land, in Kumasi, for the construction of the Film Village.

The movie producer revealed the land is already a film spot for movies like ‘Sankofa’, ‘Abuburo Kosua’ and many others. The chief of Hemang has also allocated 200 acres of land for the construction of the Film Village.
