Many will vote for NPP because of me – Lucky Mensah

After openly campaigning for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to win the 2008 presidential elections, highlife musician, Lucky Mensah who has ditched the party to endorse the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) believes his decision will influence people to vote against the government.

According to Lucky Mensah, for him to have campaigned for NDC to win power and now broken ties with the party for failing the country is enough to influence votes.

“Many will vote for NPP because of me. NDC has let the people down,” he said on Radio Univers’ Brunch2Lunch, Tuesday.

Alex Mensah as known in real life has recorded a campaign song for NPP with the video expected to be released soon.

He told host Abrantepa that he trusted the NDC to continue the works of former president John Agyekum Kuffour but to his dismay, the Mahama-led administration has plagued the country into extreme hardship.

What is more disturbing, according to him is, instead of NDC bolstering the deteriorating Ghanaian economy, it is engulfed by corrupt practices.

“I will be disappointing Ghanaians if I follow NDC just as the government has let the people down. I have the interest of the country at heart than that of a political party. I campaigned for the NDC but it has disappointed Ghanaians. I thought Prof Mills would continue the good works of President Kufour that was why I composed a song for them. When he passed on, I still supported the NDC with the hope that John Mahama will deliver but as you can see, the party has failed…” he stated.

President John Mahama who was a veep became president following the demise of President John Atta Mills in 2012. He seeks a second term with the hope of beating Nana Akufo-Addo, presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party who is contesting for the third consecutive time.
