Man In Narrow Escape

A twenty-year old man, Nester Frimpong, narrowly escaped death when a fully loaded articulated track run into a provisions store in which he was sleeping near the police depot in Kumasi in the early hours of yesterday.

The truck, loaded with cement, also ran into another unoccupied provisions store. Items destroyed in the two stores run into several millions of cedis. Frimpong said he was awoken from sleep by a studding noise who only to see that part of the container in which he was sleeping had been ripped off with the articulated truck standing very close to it.

The driver of the vehicle, who was said to have sustained minor injuries, was trapped in the wreckage and it took eyewitnesses some time to rescue him before he was sent to the Suntreso hospital for medical attention. The vehicle was said to have veered off on the main road and ran into the stores. The owner of one of the stores, Eric Frimpong, said he lost goods worth about ?20million, but thanked God hat Nester, his junior brother did not die.
