The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) will experience a significant decline the moment its current president, Bice Osei Kufour (Obour) leaves office, Managing Editor of Flex Newspaper, Sammy Flex has said.

Since the ascension of Obour to the MUSIGA presidency in 2011, a number of stakeholders have called for a change in the leadership as they claim he has failed the union.

From Kwaisey Pee chiding Obour and calling his administration the worse ever, Shatta Wale roasting him on Twitter, to Kontihene’s statement that “The reflection of Obour’s performance reflects on the shape of his belly”, Obour has indeed been vilified, abrantepa.com can state.

The latest is Tinny who strongly believes MUSIGA can only succeed if management of the union is given to foreigners as they have the requisite qualifications and qualities.

“Ghana music, I see it like Black Stars. We take huge amount of money to pay a coach from outside Ghana to come and manage Black Stars. We should fire all the guys at MUSIGA.

“I think we should have people from outside Ghana to come and manage MUSIGA because I believe that their way of thinking is different.

“[For] Ghanaians, what we think about is the tummy first,” he said on Joy FM.

But Sammy Flex on 3FM’s Showbiz927, Saturday, said most musicians do not even know the functions of MUSIGA and Tinny may not be an exception.

“To be a president of MUSIGA, you need to be a card bearing member. So those people he is telling us to hand over the management of the union to, [they will do so] in what capacity?” he queried.

Highlighting the achievements of Obour as president of the union, Sammy Flex who seemed to have a strong believe in the administration stated without equivocation that, the success chalked by the Obour-led administration is unprecedented.

As monitored by abrantepa.com, Sammy Flex was of the greatest conviction that MUSIGA will be brought to its knees when Obour’s tenure ends as he sees no one excelling like the ‘Konkontiba’ hit maker.

“The day Obour will leave MUSIGA as president, we will start seeing the decline of the union. When he leaves, you will see the decline because the skill, energy, connection and brains that he is working with at MUSIGA, I’m yet to find somebody who can do that job. Trust me, when Obour leaves MUSIGA, things like Ghana Music Week will all come to a halt. What Obour has done [as president of MUSIGA], from the days of Agya Koo Nimo, Sidiku Buari till now, nobody has achieved the feet Obour has,” he told host Nana Kwadwo Addo.

Obour was re-elected into office in 2015 for another 4-year term.
