MUSIGA not happy about delay in the passage of Copyright Bill

Kumasi, May 4, GNA- The Ashanti Regional branch of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has expressed concern about the delay in the passage of the Copyright Bill.

The union has therefore appealed to the President to give his assent to the Bill to help protect the interest of members especially against piracy.

Mr Kofi Abraham, Regional Chairman of MUSIGA, who made the appeal at a press conference in Kumasi on Tuesday, said although musicians and producers were spending millions of cedis on the recording, production and promotions of music they are not making profit due to piracy. Mr Abraham said a number of multi-national companies had declined to invest in the music industry due to the problem.

He urged musicians and producers to forge unity to defend the interest of the industry.
