MTN Hit-Maker evicts Olevya & Qwabyna

After another week of suspense, followers of the MTN Hit-Maker 2 music contest were on Sunday evening treated to thrilling music performances after which they were served the heart-breaking news – Olevia Aba and Miguel Oduro Daniels known on stage as ‘Qwabyna’, have been evicted.

The two are the second batch of evictees after they were found to have the least number of public votes and could not score high marks on the judges score sheets.

This leaves just 8 contestants in the competition and some two more would be evicted by the same criteria next Sunday.

This Friday, organizers of the competition, Farmhouse Productions and title sponsors MTN would put together a celebrity status eviction party for Olevya and Qwabyna.

MTN and Farmhouse Productions have announced that the final winner would get a recording and artiste management deal worth GH¢100,000.00 while the first-runner-up gets an amount of GH¢50,000.00 for the same purpose.

The third and fourth-placed winners will also receive some handsome prizes.

Qwabyna entered the MTN Hit-Maker 2 with high hopes of becoming the overall winner. He lives on his own at Lapaz in Accra and has been living on his own for 19 years. He does music professionally and owns a studio, Krucyfyx, with his cousin.

They have been running the studio for about 10 to 12 years. He is a senior high school graduate and comes from Mpraeso in the Eastern Region.

Olevya also lives at Nungua with her parents and is a student at the Regent University, studying Human Resource and IT. She has her own style called ‘New Pop or ‘New Soul’. She writes well and will put Ghana on the international music market.

It is not yet clear whether MTN and Farmhouse Productions would create an opportunity for the evictees to be voted back into the contest.

Ghana’s ‘Rap Doctor’, Okyeame Kwame, was guest judge alongside the three regular judges for the competition – Bessa Simons, a seasoned producer and keyboardist who is also the vice president of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA); Ofie Kodjoe, a renowned singer and composer; and Zapp Mallet, Ghana’s celebrated sound engineer and producer.
