MIiss World Oganiser Julia Morley honoured with chieftaincy title in Ghana

Julia Morley, the chairman of Miss World has been honoured in Ghana with a chieftaincy title as a Queen Mother for Bosomtwi Traditional Area in the Western Region.

The honour is for her decades of service to vulnerable people all over the world.

Maame Esi Akomaso Nkosuohema I was conferred on her at a ceremony at Huni Valley on Friday.

This was during the commissioning of a ten acre land for the construction of a Miss Ghana Orphanage and Skills Development Centre.

It was witnessed by many personalities including Miss World 2018, Vanessa Ponce de Leon who traveled to Ghana with the Founder of Miss World’s Beauty with a Purpose Charity as part of Miss Ghana 2019 finale and Miss Ghana Foundation charity events.

Also present were Inna Patty; CEO of Miss Ghana organisation; Exclusive Events Ghana, Miss Ghana 2018; Nana Ama Benson and host of others.

The First Lady of the Miss World organisation took over the reins as CEO in 2000, after the passing of her husband Eric Morley, who created the pageant.

Since then, she’s flipped the format of the show on its head. Now there is a talent show, sports competition and greatest of it all the Beauty With A Purpose contest.

She has since used the platform to empower young woman to support society in various ways.

Julia who will be turning 80 in October 2019 has been to Ghana a number of occasions to support the Miss Ghana Foundation.

Her return this year is to among other charity events, help formally launch a ten acre land that was donated by Miss Ghana 2004, Inna Mariam Patty to help build a female hostel. Today, the only functioning child protection centre is located on that land at Don Bosco Child Protection Centre.

Julia Morley has pledged $10,000 to support Don Bosco and the money is from Beauty With a Purpose Charity. Also together with Miss World team, she visited children suffering Scoliosis at the Foundation of Orthopedics and Complex Spine (FOCOS) Hospital in Accra on Friday.

For Julia, every crowning of Miss World is the start of a new chapter, a chapter that signals the shift from a beauty pageant to global humanitarian program- focusing on the sickest and disadvantaged people in the world With hundreds of millions of dollars raised for good causes and tens of thousands of unique humanitarian projects completed.

This is the story that’s never told - the story that unites 130 young women in fulfilling their humanitarian projects of a lifetime led by Miss World CEO Julia Morley.
