Luigi Maclean taps MOG for sophomore single 'Oguama'

Oguama,” the moving new hymn by Luigi Maclean, featuring fellow worshipper, MOG, has arrived.

Published under Reverb Studios, to which Maclean is signed, the record, his sophomore single, follows the well-received “Amazing God,” for which he earned a VGMA 2019 Best Male Vocalist of the Year nomination.

Speaking to eNewsGH on the inspiration behind the hymn, Maclean points to a biblical passage from the book of Revelations, in which John gives an account of things to happen in the future, with particular emphasis on Chapter 5, which finds the host of heaven, including 24 Elders, living creatures, and angels offering adulation to “He who sits on the throne and the Lamb.”

“I believe Verse 13 captures the heart of the song,” says Maclean about “Oguama’s” core.

Maclean divulges that he “received the melody to the song” following a prayer to God for a worship number that will “be a blessing to many,” adding that his “heart’s desire for this song is that wherever it’s sung, let God alone be glorified!”

Like “Amazing God,” the new single heralds his maiden, yet-to-be-titled solo album.

On the decision to tap MOG, Maclean explains that the initial plan wasn’t for the song to be a collaborative project. By the time the song fully blossomed, however, it was apparent to his team and him, that MOG was an excellent complement to the song.

Alumnus of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Maclean is best known for his guest appearance on mentor and label boss, Joe Mettle’s “Bo Noo Ni” a little over two years ago. Beloved for a gentle, moving voice, Maclean has collaborated with preeminent gospel bands and individuals including Joyful Way, Bethel Revival Ministries, and Calvis Hammond.
